One Health Day Conference 2019

The One Health Day Conference is a collaborative 1-day event by the Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association and the Caribbean College of Family Physicians Jamaica Chapter (CCFP-J) held annually in celebration of One Health Day (November 3). Its aim is to build and strengthen the ties of collaboration between human and veterinary medicine and allied health and environmental disciplines in Jamaica. Topics covered this year will include: • Session 1 Planetary Health - Climate Change: Effects on Jamaica as an island nation, effects on health. • Session 2 Planetary Heath - Eco-Health: The Cockpit Country – Jamaica’s Amazon, Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease, Mosquito-borne disease control methods • Session 3 - Comparative Medicine: Plant extracts & Cannabis in cancer therapy, Antimicrobial Resistance, Canine Heartworm in animals and humans.
